Privacy Policy

Happiness Index ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal wellness tracking tool. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

• Google Account: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo.
• Daily Entries: Your happiness score (0–100), optional notes, and optional photos or short videos you choose to upload.
• Location: City and country, entered manually or detected via GPS — used only to display regional data on the world map.
• Device ID: An anonymous identifier to associate your entries without requiring login on every visit.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To display your personal happiness history and trends.
• To show anonymized global and regional happiness averages on the world map.
• To generate personalized AI insights based on your recent scores (processed via Anthropic's API — no data is stored by Anthropic).
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising.

3. Data Storage

• Entries are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL database hosted on secure cloud infrastructure).
• Uploaded images and videos are stored in Cloudinary.
• Your language preference and local data are stored in your browser's localStorage.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google Sign-In — authentication
• Supabase — database
• Cloudinary — media storage
• Anthropic — AI insights (no personal data retained)
• YAY Photobooks — physical album printing. If you choose to order a printed photo album through the app, the photos and text you select are sent to YAY Photobooks solely to produce and ship your order.

5. Affiliate Links

Some sections of the app (such as recommendations shown alongside your daily score) include affiliate links to third-party services, including Online-Therapy.com and BookYogaRetreats.com / Tripaneer. If you click these links and make a purchase or sign up, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We do not share your Happiness Index data with these services — clicking a link simply takes you to their website.

6. Your Rights

• You may request deletion of all your data by contacting us.
• Sign-in with Google is required to use the app. Your Google account information is used solely for authentication.
• You may revoke Google access at any time via Google Account Settings.

7. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
